Each year HNR has a limited number of placements for undergraduate students, i.e. students studying for or just completed the written/examined part of Bachelor’s or Master’s Degrees within Europe. Approximately half of the placement students come from the UK and the other half from wider Europe although there is no formal split in numbers and it varies year by year. Students, typically, are studying nutrition, anthropology, epidemiology, biology, biochemistry, chemistry or medicine, although, again, there is no formal guidance to the student’s subject of scientific study except that it have some relevance to the Group in which they are placed at HNR. Students will only be considered for placement at HNR if they fulfil all the following criteria:-
- Are undertaking a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or their equivalent
- Have a placement period of 4 – 12 months length
- Have their own funding for accommodation and living expenses in Cambridge
- Have identified a Group (Link person) at HNR with whom they wish to undertake their placement
In the case of the above criteria being fulfilled, students should approach Human Resources at HNR (placements@mrc-hnr.cam.ac.uk) with their C.V., a short covering note identifying the placement period sought (i.e. dates), the group of interest at HNR for their placement and confirming they have funding for living expenses.
We aim to respond rapidly but please allow up to 2 weeks during busy periods. Please note that places are limited and consideration of applications in no way guarantees a placement.
