Sumantra (Shumone) is a Medical Doctor as well as a Registered Nutritionist, with specialist interests in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Nutrition Interventions/Education. He works at HNR as Senior Medical Advisor/Clinician Scientist, and leads on Volunteer Studies and Clinical Services (VSCS) as well as its associated Vascular Lab and research theme. He is also a core member of the HNR Research Review Board (RRB). Previously a Senior Clinical Research and Teaching Fellow at The Institute of Cardiovascular Research in Dundee, Scotland, he also held an NIHR Public Health Fellowship and was a Corfield Scholar at Selwyn College, Cambridge. He is currently Chairman of the ‘UK Need for Nutrition Education Programme’ (NNEdPro) and also co-established the Nutrition Education Review Group at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine. Dr Ray is an Honorary Senior Clinical Fellow at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and is an Expert Member of the Cambridge Central Committee of the National Research Ethics Service (NRES).
